It doesn’t matter what transpired in the final of ODI world cup, one simply cannot argue with the fact that Suryakumar Yadav of India is one of the biggest T20I player ever to have graced the game.
And he proved his worth once again by stomping his way to another T20I century against South Africa in the final match of the series. With this hundred, he is now level on most century scored in the history of the game by an individual.
Suryakumar Yadav scores fourth T20I hundred
The Indian stand in skipper came to the crease after his team lost 2 wickets in 2 balls. He had a tentative approach towards the inning as he had to rebuild the inning with Jaiswal.
At one point of his inning Suryakumar Yadav had 26 runs from 24 balls. However, in the second half of the first inning he took the Protean bowlers on an onslaught.
The stand-in Indian skipper smoked the bowlers in all parts of the ground. With the help of 7 fours and 8 sixes, he brought up another century in just 56 balls.
This inning of his enabled his team to power past the total of 200 runs as they posted a mammoth total of 201 runs in their 20 overs.
Birthday boy Kuldeep Yadav’s magical spell
The second inning saw the hosts being subdued by the Indian spin duo. It was Ravidnra Jadeja who drew the first blood for the duo, as he removed the Protean skipper Markram.
Later Kuldeep followed in his footsteps and managed to clinch 5 scalps in just a matter of 17 balls. The South African bowlers were clearly not able to pick his spin from the hand and ended up playing all the wrong lines.
Donovan Ferreira was the first one to bite the dust. He was bowled by a ball that stayed low and turned to hit his pads before knocking off the stumps. Keshav Maharaj was the second wicket for Yadav who was deceived by a skidder and got castled.
The last three wickets for Kuldeep came in just 4 balls of the 14th over of the inning. Nandre Burger was the first to depart for 1, followed by Williams for the 2-ball duck and David Miller who couldn’t save his team’s floating ship.
Kuldeep Yadav ended the game with the figures of 5 for 17 in just 2.5 overs.
