Despite efforts led by captain Rohit Sharma, the Indian team struggled to defend their total of 240 runs, ultimately losing by six wickets in the summit clash.

When the emotions were high, a rare moment was captured on the camera that showed Jasprit Bumra, one of the coolest customers in cricket, losing his head.

Watch: Bumrah knocks over bails in anger

The incident occurred after Bumrah completed an over in the high-intensity game but could not pick a wicket for his team. To show his frustration, the bowler was seen knocking over the bails with his cap when walking away from the umpire.

Bumrah, however, was quick to realise his mistake. And immediately returned to the stump and picked up the bail to put it back in its place before walking off. This event is a snippet of the varied emotions that were on display during the intense final played between the two cricketing giants.

Partnership of Head and Marnus Labuschange

The partnership between Head and Marnus Labuschagne boosted Australia’s position as they scored an impressive 192 runs together for the fourth wicket. Labuschagne, who didn’t get out and scored 58 runs from 110 balls, played a big part in helping the team successfully reach their target.

In the 28th over of the Australian innings, there was a crucial moment when Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah challenged an LBW decision against Labuschagne. The umpire’s call went in favour of the Australian batsman, and this didn’t sit well with Bumrah. In a video circulating online, Bumrah can be observed expressing his frustration by tapping the bails with his cap after Labuschagne survived the close call. At that stage, Australia’s score was 157 for three.

Mohammed Shami and Siraj took main wickets

Australia became the champions by successfully chasing the target of 241 runs in 43 overs. They lost only four wickets during the process. Good performances from Mohammed Shami and Siraj led to the dismissal of Australian top-order batters.

After a thrilling final, Australia has added another impressive achievement to their cricket history by becoming the deserving champions. The closely contested battle might lead to discussions and reflections on India’s performance in the World Cup, causing some heartbreak for the team.
