Dewald Brevis slams unbelievable no-look six to bring up his fifty in SA20, video goes viral

In a SA20 match between MI Cape Town and Pretoria Capitals on February 1 at SuperSport Park in Centurion, South African batting sensation Dewald Brevis showcased his extraordinary talent by hitting a no-look six during the 19th over of Cape Town’s innings. Facing a full-length delivery from Daryn Dupavilion, Brevis lofted the ball high towards wide long-on without looking at it, keeping his head down the entire time. This remarkable shot contributed to his half-century, as he went on to score an unbeaten 66 runs off 32 balls at an impressive strike rate of 206.25.

Brevis, a right-handed batter, had been going through a lean patch with only 75 runs in his last six innings, but his outstanding performance in this game marked a return to form. The innings included six maximums and three boundaries, helping his team reach a formidable total of 248/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Expressing his excitement after the match, Brevis credited his return to form to the support and guidance of skipper Kieron Pollard, who backed him throughout the league stage. In an interview with AB de Villiers during the mid-match show, Brevis stated, “This has been an interesting time. Firstly, I have to thank God for this. At the end of the tunnel, there is light. Grateful to contribute to the team and to have a great score.”

Reflecting on his partnership with Pollard, Brevis described it as “unbelievable.” He highlighted a key moment where Pollard advised him to wait after a slower ball, and following that, Brevis took a single and gave the strike to Pollard, leading to a shift in momentum.

Expressing his love for playing in front of his home crowd, Brevis conveyed his confidence in the team’s abilities, stating, “I love it here. I back us all the way, and we will give it our all.” The young batting prodigy’s return to form and his outstanding innings were not only a personal triumph but also a crucial contribution to his team’s success in the SA20 tournament.
