In the recent World Cup semifinal between India and New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma achieved a fascinating goal. In the game, Rohit Sharma became the first player ever in World Cup history to hit 50 or more sixes. He surpassed Chris Gayle’s previous record of 49 sixes. Rohit achieved this by hitting a total of 51 sixes throughout the tournament.

Moreover, Rohit Sharma achieved another record by hitting the highest number of sixes in a single World Cup edition. In the 2023 tournament, he hit 28 sixes, breaking Chris Gayle’s previous record of 26 sixes set in the 2015 edition. In the semifinal match, Rohit’s powerful batting was evident. He scored 47 runs in just 29 deliveries before Kane Williamson caught him off Tim Southee’s bowling.

Rohit Sharma, serving as the captain of the Indian cricket team, also reached the milestone of 2,000 runs in his captaincy. This achievement came in his 44th match as captain. During the ongoing World Cup, Rohit has been in excellent form, scoring a total of 550 runs in 10 matches with an average of 55.00 and a strike rate of over 124. He registered his best score of 131 and has scored a century along with three fifties in the tournament.

He has managed to score seven centuries and six fifties.He holds the fifth-highest position in World Cup history. The legendary Indian player Sachin Tendulkar claims the top spot with a total of 2,278 runs.
