The match went into two super overs for the first time in the history of T20I cricket before India won. With the win, Rohit Sharma equals former captain MS Dhoni’s record for most wins as an Indian T20I captain.

Rohit, who returned to the T20Is after 14 months had 38 wins as captain at the start of three match T20I series against Afghanistan, but a clean sweep helped him to become India’s joint-most successful captain in T20I with 41 victories.

Overall, he also equalled Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan in most T20Is wins list as captain.

Rohit Sharma reflects on his experience of being sidelined from the T20Is

Rohit Sharma was observing Team India’s game from outside despite not playing T20Is since the 2022 T20 World Cup. He revealed that he was providing valuable insights to the coaching staff.

Rohit also mentioned the importance of players being able to handle different scenarios, and he believes that the team successfully met these challenges during the series.

Speaking about his involvement in the team’s development, even when not actively participating on the field, Sharma said:

“I was watching the games when I was out of the team, but I was not part of the playing team. So, I took the information from the coaching staff, and it was important to hand different situations to the players. Giving them overs where they are not comfortable bowling. Some are not comfortable bowling in the powerplay, while some are not comfortable in the death. So, we wanted to see how the guys can adapt, and I think we have ticked those boxes in this series,”
